Romney to decide on Senate reelection in the fall.

Sen. Mitt Romney to Decide⁣ on Second ⁣Term in 2024

Sen. Mitt Romney⁣ (R-UT) has announced that ⁤he will make ⁣a decision⁣ on whether to run for ‍a second term ⁤in 2024 ‍by‌ this fall. With ⁣multiple Republican⁢ contenders ready‍ to compete⁤ for the seat, the race is heating up.

“I’ll be making that decision‍ sometime this fall,” Romney ⁢revealed⁢ in an interview with⁣ KUTV 2News in Salt⁢ Lake. “Haven’t made a final decision yet, but my choice will be based on whether I believe I can truly make a difference for the people of Utah.”

Utah⁢ Republican’s Criticism of Trump

Sen. Romney has emerged as a prominent⁣ critic of former President Donald Trump, which could potentially impact his reelection campaign. Utah, a state that supported Trump in both the 2016 and 2020 elections, may‌ now have a different ⁤perspective.

“I don’t go to Washington to make noise,” Romney emphasized. “I go to Washington to get things done.”

Despite his criticism, Romney⁤ continues to poll favorably in‍ his home state. A recent⁤ survey conducted by Noble Predictive Insights revealed that ⁤nearly 30% of voters would⁣ support Romney in a hypothetical matchup against ⁣other Republican candidates.

A Strong Fundraising Effort

Romney’s ⁣impressive fundraising efforts suggest that⁣ he ⁣is gearing up for a competitive race. From April through June, his campaign received over $1 million in contributions.

Challengers Emerge

Riverton Mayor Trent Stagg was the first candidate to launch a bid opposing Romney in the‍ upcoming primary. ⁢Stagg has⁤ frequently criticized Romney ‌for his perceived lack of presence in Utah.

“As a⁤ mayor in Utah, I cannot tell ⁣you the last time I saw Mitt Romney. It ⁢seems⁣ like his sole purpose in the Senate is to spite Donald Trump,” Stagg ⁣expressed‍ on ‌X, formerly known as Twitter.

Another ‌potential challenger is Utah House ⁤Speaker Brad Wilson, ⁤who has already raised over $2 million since launching an exploratory committee for the Senate. Wilson has garnered support from more than 60 conservative ⁢Utah lawmakers, who are encouraging him to run.

As the race for the Senate seat in Utah ⁣intensifies, all eyes are on Sen. Mitt Romney as he contemplates his future in politics.
