Mom wins $100,000 legal battle over daughter’s secret school transition.
A Mother’s Fight for Her Daughter’s Rights
In a groundbreaking case, a mother from California has been awarded a $100,000 judgment against the Spreckels Union School District. The district secretly socially transitioned the woman’s 11-year-old daughter, Alicia, without her knowledge or consent.
Jessica Konen, Alicia’s mother, was shocked to discover that her daughter was being referred to with male pronouns by teachers at Buena Vista Middle School. Not only that, but Alicia was also allowed to use the boys’ bathroom. Konen had no idea any of this was happening.
After the ruling, Konen spoke out, urging parents to be bold and fight for their children’s rights. She emphasized the importance of raising our voices and standing up for what is right.
Center for American Liberty is proud to announce a settlement in Konen v. Spreckels Union School District that resulted in a $100,000 payment by the school district to Jessica and Alicia for the violation of their rights.

Konen’s lawsuit revealed that Alicia had joined her school’s “Equality Club” in sixth grade, where she learned about LGBT concepts, transgenderism, and bisexuality. The school then actively facilitated Alicia’s social gender transition, even providing her with articles on how to conceal her new gender identity from her mother.
When Konen eventually discovered what was happening, the school tried to further conceal the transition by referring to Alicia by her given name and female pronouns in front of her mother. However, when Konen was not present, Alicia was still referred to with male pronouns and a male name.
This case highlights the ongoing battles surrounding parental rights and gender in California. Governor Gavin Newsom has targeted school board members who oppose controversial curriculum, accusing them of whitewashing history and perpetuating prejudice. The state’s attorney general even launched a civil rights investigation into one school district.
It is crucial for parents to stay informed and advocate for their children’s rights. Cases like Konen’s and others serve as a reminder that parental involvement is essential in shaping the education and well-being of our children.

In another disturbing incident, Janet Roberson, a mother of three, faced backlash and was eventually fired from her job after speaking out against LGBT curriculum at a California school board meeting. These cases highlight the importance of protecting parental rights and ensuring that all voices are heard in the education system.
