‘Monty Python’ star’s tweet on ‘unfair advantage’ of ‘biological men’ in women’s sports goes viral.
Monty Python Actor John Cleese Goes Viral After Tweeting About Transgender Athlete
John Cleese, the 83-year-old comedian and actor from “Monty Python,” has caused a stir on social media after tweeting about the “unfair advantage” biological males have in women’s sports. This comes after a transgender athlete recently won in the female category of a cycling race in the U.K.
Cleese didn’t hold back when he responded to a tweet from British journalist Martin Daubney, stating that “biological men in women’s sports have an unfair advantage.” The tweet has since gone viral, with over one million views.
Agreement with Cleese’s Assessment
Many people agreed with Cleese’s assessment, with one person tweeting that “we all see the absurdity, but few in positions of influence are willing to say the obvious for fear of being called transphobes.” Another person added that “those debating this can’t even define ‘woman.’”
Yet another person stated that “proof that trans ideology benefits men first and foremost. Young female athletes will enter a world with fewer rights than their mothers.”
Cleese’s Famous Scene in “Monty Python’s Life of Brian”
Cleese famously appeared in “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” in a scene that was ahead of its time regarding a man wanting to become a woman. When one of the male characters announces that he “wants to be” a woman, he tells the others in the film to now refer to him as “Loretta.” Cleese’s character responds with a joke about where the baby would come from, stating “where’s the fetus going to gestate? Are you going to keep it in a box?”
