Two trolleys collided on Friday, injuring dozens of passengers. Authorities said at least 25 people suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the collision in Boston.
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority officials reported that both trains were heading westbound out of the city when one rear-ended the other. MTBA said it is investigating how fast the rear train was traveling as the speed limit for that particular section of track is only 10 miles per hour.
“We will obviously get to the bottom of this,” said MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak. “This shouldn’t happen and we will find out why it happened and we will ensure that it won’t happen again.”
Earlier tonight, 2 Green Line trains collided on the B Branch near Babcock Street. Emergency personnel quickly responded and assisted everyone from the trains with 25 individuals receiving medical attention. Our thoughts are with the riders and employees injured in this incident.
