An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll reveals that 51% of respondents believe Trump acted illegally in Georgia. Only 15% believe he did nothing wrong, while 13% consider his actions unethical but not illegal.

Trump’s alleged actions in Georgia led to an indictment of 13 counts under the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. When asked about other criminal charges against Trump, the poll found that 53% believe his mishandling of classified documents was illegal, 47% believe his involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was illegal, and 34% believe his alleged hush money payments in Manhattan before the 2016 election were illegal. These actions are the subject of indictments in federal courts in Florida, Washington, D.C., and Manhattan, respectively.
Opinions on Trump’s Indictment in Washington
Regarding the Justice Department’s indictment of Trump in Washington for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election, 53% of respondents approved of the indictment, with 41% strongly approving and 29% disapproving.
Trump’s Approval Rating and 2024 Presidential Campaign
Trump’s approval rating remains low, with 62% of surveyed adults viewing him unfavorably and only 35% viewing him favorably. When asked about Trump’s potential 2024 presidential campaign, 53% said they would definitely not support him, while 11% would probably not support him, 15% would probably support him, and 21% would definitely support him. In comparison, only 43% said they would definitely not support President Joe Biden, Trump’s likely opponent in a general election.
Trump currently leads the Republican primary race, with Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in second place, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
