Mother Of Michigan School Shooting Suspect Texted ‘Don’t Do It’ After The Attack Started

On Friday, The Daily Wire reported that Michigan’s Oakland County Special Prosecutor Karen MacDonald announced that the parents of the alleged school shooter in Oakland County were being charged to the highest extent possible. New information reveals that the mother of the suspect allegedly texted her son, “don’t do it” as news broke about the shooting at Oxford High School on Tuesday, November 30.

The Daily Wire noted, “Four students were killed after the suspect opened fire using a handgun that was recently purchased by the suspect’s father.”

Additionally, “the parents of the suspect accused of shooting up a high school in Michigan were hit with involuntary manslaughter charges on Friday, prosecutors announced.”

Their son, “a 15-year-old white male that The Daily Wire is not naming due to company policy about not giving notoriety to alleged mass murderers, is being charged as an adult with two dozen crimes, including murder, attempted murder, and terrorism for the attack this week Oxford High School in Oakland County.”

According  to Fox 29, investigators revealed that the parents suspected their son was the shooter nearly as soon as media started reporting on the story:

As news started to break, the investigators said James and Jennifer both took actions that indicate they knew something could have happened, McDonald said.

At 1:22 p.m., 30 minutes after the first 911 call was placed, Willis stated that [the mother] texted her son the following: “[name redacted] don’t do it”.

At 1:37 p.m., Willis said that [the father] went home and searched for his Sig Sauer and then called 911 to report the missing gun. On the 911 call, he said he believed his son was the shooter. [redaction added]

Local media also reports that on the morning that the shooting took place, a teacher found a disturbing note indicating the student in question was willing to do self-harm and potentially hurt others:

It was also revealed that on the morning of the shooting, a teacher found a note on [the alleged shooter’s] desk that read the following: “The thoughts won’t stop. Help me.” In another section of the note was a drawing of a bullet with words: “Blood everywhere” and a person who appeared to have been shot and bleeding.

The note also read “my life is useless” and “the world is dead”.

The result of that note was a meeting with parents, school officials, and [the alleged shooter’s] that morning. The counselor took the drawings, but most of the context above was scratched out.

It is being reported that school counselors recommended to the parents they take their son home that day, but they resisted:

In the meeting, the [parents] were shown the drawing and advised to get their son into counseling within 24 hours. The prosecutor said they did not ask [him] if he had his gun – which was in his backpack in this meeting.

McDonald said they then resisted the idea of taking their son home that day.
