Mother Receives Six-Figure Settlement After School Secretly ”Socially Transitions” Daughter
A mother in California has won a landmark legal battle against a school district that “socially transitioned” her daughter without her knowledge. Jessica Konen has been awarded a six-figure settlement of $100,000 by the Spreckels Union School District, according to the Center for American Liberty, a nonprofit legal defense group.
The Center for American Liberty previously explained that Konen’s daughter, Alicia, was recruited into a school “Equality Club” when she was in sixth grade. In this club, she was exposed to information about bisexuality, transgender identities, and other LGBT concepts.
After joining the club, the school began encouraging Alicia to identify as a boy, without informing her mother. They required staff to use male pronouns and a male name when referring to Alicia and allowed her to use the unisex teachers’ restroom instead of the girls’ restroom.
The school even provided Alicia with articles on how to hide her new gender identity from her mother.
Eventually, Konen discovered her daughter’s gender transition and filed a lawsuit against the school district in June 2022. The district has now settled the lawsuit and agreed to pay Konen the six-figure settlement.
In a video posted on social media, Konen and Alicia celebrated the settlement, expressing their relief and satisfaction.

Alicia, now a happy and healthy teenager, revealed that during the COVID pandemic, when the school was closed, she realized that the identity imposed on her by the school was false. She returned to living as a girl and embraced her true self.
Mark Trammell, executive director of the Center for American Liberty, believes that this settlement will serve as a deterrent for other schools. He stated that incidents like these are happening across the country and that schools need to be aware of the financial liability they face.
Trammell also mentioned that his legal group has received calls on this matter from almost all 50 states, indicating that parental secrecy policies are a concern nationwide.
This legal victory highlights the importance of parental consent and involvement in decisions regarding a child’s gender identity.
