MSNBC host laments Democrats’ ‘visuals’ at Trump speech: ‘Not taking back the House in 2026’
MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend criticized Democrats who protested at President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress by suggesting their antics Tuesday night were not helping their reelection efforts in 2026.
During post-speech analysis, former Sen. Claire McCaskill stated that Democrats need to “snatch them [voters] back.”
“How are we going to snatch them back, Michael, when they are holding up bingo or auction signs?” the MSNBC host responded by turning to MSNBC panelist Michael Steele on Tuesday.
“Thank you, Symone, because the bingo signs were killing me. I don’t know who thought up the bingo signs, but they should be fired,” Steele declared.
“Michael, this is an indictment, in my opinion, on the Democratic leadership,” Sanders-Townsend said. “I talk to a lot of members during the — they was texting. The staff were on my phones and they were calling.”
“And I think the best way to describe it is the Democratic leadership said they didn’t want disruptions and they wanted people to attend and bring a guest. They wanted business as usual. And we’re fighting back in other ways,” the former chief spokesperson and senior adviser for former Vice President Kamala Harris continued. “There is a palpable disgust, as Claire said, from not just the members, but their constituents. And it’s like a pot, as someone described it to me, this is boiling and it’s about to bubble over. … It’s going to bubble over. “
“The visuals are not taking back the house in 2026. Not these visuals,” she stated.
In a post on social media, Sanders-Townsend reiterated her criticisms of the Democrats.
