Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) snapped at a reporter inside the U.S. Capitol when asked about the Jan. 6 pardon recipients.
President Donald Trump spent his first hours in office issuing clemency for the 1,583 people who faced charges for their actions at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Meanwhile, his predecessor, Joe Biden, issued record pardons, commutations, and clemencies for thousands of convicts, some of whom were on death row.
A reporter was captured on video asking Greene if she would give tours to those pardoned for their actions at the Capitol. Greene mocked the question, reminding the reporter that some convictions came because some people entered the Capitol through open doors.
“Is this really all you’re talking about? The J6-ers that have been pardoned? Are you gonna talk about the Biden family that got pardoned?” Greene asked the reporter. “What about the rapers, and murderers, and killers that Joe Biden pardoned? There are tons of them.”
The Washington Examiner reached out to Greene’s office for more information on the exchange.
“I’m not doing this. This insane place up here, and all of y’all’s obsession with Jan. 6, is absurd. Everybody outside of here is sick and f***ing tired of it! I’m serious,” Greene went on. “It is nauseating. I’ve seen all the Democrat-run networks ad nauseam about Jan. 6. And they just can’t get over themselves. But they don’t give a s*** about real Americans!”
Greene has supported the Jan. 6 prisoners since 2021. She did not confirm whether she would host tours for the pardoned.
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has already offered Capitol tours to pardon recipients since their release. Boebert also participated in a demonstration outside the D.C. Department of Corrections to call for the release of more prisoners.
