9 Service Members Dead After Two Black Hawk Helicopters Crash In Kentucky

Nine service members have passed away after two Army HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crashed during a training exercise on Wednesday night in Kentucky. The crash occurred between two Blackhawks connected to the 101st Airborne Division at approximately 10:00 p.m. local time close to Fort Campbell in Trigg County. Little information has been confirmed by officials about the incident. The only statement from the 101st Airborne Division is that the crew members were engaging in a routine training mission when the crash occurred, and their status is unknown at this point. An Army official later confirmed that everyone onboard both helicopters had passed away.

Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky tweeted his condolences to all affected individuals and said he would be traveling to Fort Campbell after the tragedy. Kentucky State Police claim that the crash happened in the woods, and Fort Campbell is planned to hold a press conference on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. to provide additional details. A local individual, Nick Tomaszewski from Kentucky, stated that he heard the crash before seeing the helicopters pass over his house. Soon after, he saw a large exlosion that illuminated the trees.
