Alex Murdaugh was unanimously found guilty by the jury at Murdaugh’s trial.

After seven days of deliberation, the jury had already considered all evidence presented. The jury reached a decision Thursday after three hours of deliberation.

Murdaugh was charged with four counts. Murdaugh was charged on one count with the murders of his wife and son, as well as two additional counts for possessing a firearm during a crime.

Prosecutors requested that he be held for life without parole to avoid the death penalty.

Murdaugh was taken away by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department after the verdict. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Murdaugh is still facing 99 charges in a separate case that has yet to be brought to trial. This case includes a variety of financial crimes that amount to about $9 million. Murdaugh faces charges of stealing from his clients and former law firm as well as the government.

Alex Murdaugh, a South Carolina attorney, was convicted for the murders of his son and wife at their Islandton Moselle hunting estate on 1,772 acres.
