Oliver Anthony’s hit song ‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ leads to record deal.
Music Sensation Oliver Anthony Receives Record Offer from John Rich
Music sensation Oliver Anthony appears to have received a record offer from country music singer-songwriter John Rich as Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” continues to go viral.
The song gives voice to millions of working-class Americans who feel beaten down and abused by the elite politicians in Washington, D.C.
“These rich men north of Richmond / Lord knows they all just want to have total control / Wanna know what you think / Wanna know what you do / And they don’t think you know, but I know that you do,” Anthony sings. “Cause your dollar ain’t s***, and it’s taxed to no end / ‘Cause of rich men north of Richmond.”
“I wish politicians would look out for miners / And not just minors on an island somewhere / Lord, we got folks in the street, ain’t got nothing to eat / And the obese milking welfare / Well God, if you’re 5 foot 3 and you’re 300 pounds / Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds … Young men are putting themselves 6 feet in the ground / ‘Cause all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down.”
The words of the Virginia native, who wrote the song after 30 days of being sober, have resonated across social media, and the song has nearly 2 million plays on YouTube.
“If he produces an album I’ll promote it on all of my platforms,” conservative media personality Matt Walsh posted to X Thursday.
A call for an “Oliver Anthony Album Fund” was sent out, and John Rich appeared to answer the call.
“Spoke with John Rich, he’s the best in the business,” Dan Bongino posted about the idea of setting up a record deal for Anthony. “We’re in.”
Rich responded with symbols of fist bumps and the American flag.
