N.J. Mom Sues Police, Military Officials For Labeling Her Post About School’s ‘Polysexual’ Poster A ‘Security Threat’
A New Jersey mother is sueing the U.S. military officers and her local chief of police over the organization of a censorship program she says forced the deletion of a Facebook comment she made about sex education.
Angela Reading is a Villanova law student and a mother of two. She filed the suit Wednesday alleging that an entourage made up of law enforcement claimed she was a “lawyer” “security threat” When she objected to a “polysexual” flyer in school.
Reading, who was a member of her county’s regional education board until the incident, posted a complaint on Facebook after her 7-year old daughter asked her what she meant. “polysexual” It means elementary “Math Night.”
“Why are elementary schools promoting/allowing elementary KIDS to research topics of sexuality and create posters?” Reading is a skill. “This is not in the state elementary standards (law) nor in the BOE-approved curriculum. It’s perverse and should be illegal to expose my kids to sexual content.”
Lt. Col. Christopher Schilling, of the nearby Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, flagged Reading’s comments as “security concerns” In a private Facebook post. He added that the base was working with local police. “monitor the situation” “ensure the continued safety of the community,” According to the New York Post.
“I was more than surprised. I was scared,” Reading commented on Schilling’s reply in an interview “Tucker Carlson Tonight” last December. “I actually pulled my kids from school the day I found out. It was mind-boggling and I was worried for them when the U.S. military comes after you for simply raising concern about a public poster that is widely available for all to see.”
Reading’s lawsuit, filed in the Thomas More Society, contains documents obtained through public record requests. They show that U.S. Military and local law enforcement conspired to describe her as an accomplice. “extremist.”
“Without any evidence, the Joint Base Actors acted in concert to label Mrs. Reading a ‘far-right extremist’ and security threat, worthy of government surveillance,” The filing says. Their efforts “urged state authorities to monitor and take other action against Mrs. Reading for no other reason than her making a simple, constitutionally protected objection on Facebook to age-inappropriate sexual content in an elementary school that directly impacted her own children.”
Under the Biden administration, left-wing ideologues have been accustomed to making comparisons between parents who are concerned and terrorists. The Justice Department was criticized for targeting parents who showed up at their local school board meetings in 2021. “domestic terrorists.”
Doug Emhoff, Second Gentleman, compared parental activism in schools to Nazi hatred that fueled the Holocaust on Wednesday.
“You see it in the discourse in the country right now. You see it in the divide that we have, just going to school meetings. You see that hate that is out there. We’ve got to step up and speak out and we’ve got to call out the cowards out there,” Emhoff.
Reading’s November Facebook Post, Christopher Ferrara, Special Counsel at Thomas More Society, “merely questioned why elementary children were being invited to research topics of sexuality, noting that it is not in the state educational standards nor the board of education approved curriculum.”
“Mrs. Reading did not name names or schools, and invited respectful debate,” Ferrara added.
