A New York limo driver involved in a crash that killed 20, will not be facing prison time. Nauman Hussain, 31, pleaded guilty on Thursday to criminally negligent homicide and will serve five years probation.

In 2018, Hussain was transporting a group of birthday party attendees to a brewery in Upstate New York. The limo’s brakes failed while going downhill, which caused it to crash into a ravine killing all passengers. However, the National Transportation Safety Board put much of the blame on his employer, Prestige Limousine, for allegedly not properly servicing the vehicle.

Prosecutors said Hussain had been served “multiple notices of violations” before the unfortunate event. The crash inspired state lawmakers to pass a limousine safety bill in 2020.
