A Long Island man is arrested and charged for making a death threat against Republican Congressman Andrew Garbarino.

Kenneth Gasper, 64, was arrested and charged with aggravated second-degree harassment on Wednesday, after calling the New York Representative’s Office days before to leave a death threat. Police reported Gasper made the threat after Garbarino was one of 13 Republicans to vote in favor of the Biden administration’s trillion-dollar infrastructure bill.

Police Commissioner for Nassau County Patrick Ryder said, “besides using his displeasure with the congressman’s voting on the recent infrastructure bill, he used some profanity and then he made a threat and it went like this: ‘If I see that mother f*er in the street, I’m going to kill him’.”

Ryder said he thinks Gasper was upset with himself after the threat was made, suggesting he was caught up in the moment. However, the police commissioner said this threat in particular is “a problem for us,” considering the intensity of the threat.

Meanwhile, police said they’re taking these threats very seriously after reporting politicians have received many during the course of this year.
