Nancy Mace says it’s good for the country when Democrats ‘acknowledge the failings’ – Washington Examiner
The situation surrounding Representative Nancy Mace has generated meaningful attention in Congress, notably related to her recent opposition to Democratic Representative-elect Sarah McBride, who is notable for being the first openly transgender member of the U.S. house. Mace, a Republican from south Carolina, has publicly stated her intention to “stand in the way” of McBride’s policies, focusing particularly on issues surrounding transgender rights and bathroom access for transgender individuals. This marks a stark shift for Mace, who previously identified as supportive of transgender rights.
as context, mace had expressed pro-transgender views as recently as last year, including support for children’s exploration of their gender identity. Though, recent actions indicate a reversal or a re-evaluation of those positions. The actions and rhetoric from Mace are viewed as part of a broader Republican strategy to challenge and critique the inclusion of transgender lawmakers and issues within legislative discussions.
Mace’s comments and actions have sparked significant debate, underscoring the contentious atmosphere in Congress regarding LGBTQ+ rights, particularly in the context of the ongoing culture wars over gender and identity in American politics.
Nancy Mace says it’s good for the country when Democrats ‘acknowledge the failings’
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) applauded Democratic colleagues for calling out lies from its leaders.
Mace appeared on Fox News’s Fox & Friends on Wednesday in the wake of President Joe Biden pardoning his son, Hunter Biden. The move has divided the Democratic party with some of the president’s allies supporting his decision while other party members condemned it. According to Mace, when Democratic politicians call out the lies from the highest leader in the party, the United States is healed.
“You can’t continue to lie to the American people the way they have been for the last four years. I commend anyone calling anyone out within their own party for lying. I’m someone who calls the balls and strikes against both parties. I have taken a lot of fire and a lot heat for that,” Mace said. “It’s great and it’s good for the country when you acknowledge the failings of your own party. That’s the only way our country can heal. Republicans and Democrats alike have to do it within our own ranks. That’s something I am going to encourage for years ahead.”
The South Carolina representative also said she was glad to see Democrats joining the Department of Government Efficiency caucus. This was likely in reference to Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) joining the ranks and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) pledging support.
This year, Hunter Biden was convicted of lying on a federal form about his drug use to purchase a revolver, submitting a false statement into a federal record, and unlawfully possessing the firearm for 11 days. He also pleaded guilty to three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax offenses. His father announced Sunday that he was pardoning him of all these offenses and those offenses he “may have committed or taken part in” dating back to 2014.
Hunter Biden is the 26th person to receive a presidential pardon from the president. It notably came after the Democratic Party ousted Joe Biden as the presidential nominee and after Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election to President-elect Donald Trump.
