Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that she served a subpoena “to produce documents in a criminal case.”
On Wednesday, Pelosi’s assistant read her statement where she announced she was serving a subpoena.
“This is to notify you formally pursuant to Rule Eight of the rules of the House of Representatives, that I, the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Emerita, and U.S. Representatives for the 11th Congressional District of California, have been served with third party subpoenas from the prosecution and the defendant to produce documents in a criminal case and United States District Court for the Northern District of California,” Pelosi’s statement read. “After consultation with the Office of General Counsel, I have determined that compliance with the subpoenas is consistent with the privileges and of the House to the extent it requires production of non-privileged information. The responses to the subpoenas will be identical.”
According to media reports, it is believed that the subpoena is related to the upcoming trial of Paul Pelosi’s alleged assailant in a violent home invasion last year.
David DePape, is the 42-year-old guy who stormed into the former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s home in San Francisco in October 2022 and beat her husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer.
“Where’s Nancy?” DePape confronted and intimidated Paul Pelosi before the 83-year-old could dial 911.
Bodycam footage from responding policemen shows DePape opening the door with a hammer before raising it over Paul Pelosi’s head to smash him.
The former Speaker’s husband was then hospitalized and underwent surgery to fix a skull fracture and other injuries caused in the attack.
DePape is set to go on trial this month.

The upcoming trial for DePape’s case has attracted significant attention, especially considering the target of his attack was the former Speaker of the House. Now, with Nancy Pelosi being served a subpoena to produce documents in this criminal case, the intrigue surrounding the trial has amplified.
In her statement, Pelosi acknowledged the receipt of third-party subpoenas from both the prosecution and the defense in the criminal case. She asserted that after consultation with the Office of General Counsel, compliance with the subpoenas is consistent with the privileges and responsibilities of the House. Pelosi emphasized that the responses to the subpoenas will be identical.
The specific nature of the documents requested in the subpoenas has not been disclosed publicly. However, media reports suggest that the subpoena may be connected to the incident involving Paul Pelosi’s alleged assailant. This violent home invasion, which took place in October 2022, resulted in Paul Pelosi being brutally attacked with a hammer.
David DePape, the perpetrator of the assault, confronted and intimidated Paul Pelosi inside their San Francisco home. Bodycam footage from responding police officers captured the terrifying moment when DePape wielded a hammer and raised it over Paul Pelosi’s head. Thanks to the quick response of law enforcement, Paul Pelosi was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery to treat a skull fracture and other injuries.
The trial for DePape’s crimes is of significant interest to the public, especially due to the high-profile status of the victim and the severity of the attack. With the recent subpoena served to Nancy Pelosi, it is evident that her involvement in the case goes beyond that of a witness or victim. The requested documents may shed light on various aspects of the incident and provide crucial evidence for the upcoming trial.
As the trial approaches, it is expected that the legal proceedings will garner substantial media attention. The outcome of this case will not only determine the fate of David DePape but also have broader implications for the security and well-being of public figures and their families. The trial is an opportunity to uncover the truth behind the attack and seek justice for the victims.
It remains to be seen how Nancy Pelosi’s compliance with the subpoena will unfold and what impact it will have on the trial. However, it is clear that her involvement in this criminal case adds a new layer of complexity to an already attention-grabbing legal saga. As the proceedings progress, the public will closely follow developments to understand the full story behind this disturbing incident and its aftermath.
