Nashville Preds Honor Victims, First Responders Of Christian School Shooting
The Nashville Predators paid tribute to the victims and first responders of the Covenant School shooting, where a trans-identifying woman opened fire and killed six people, including three 9-year-old children, at a private Christian elementary school.
The team held a moment of silence and displayed the names of the victims on the big screen at Bridgestone Arena before their games against the St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins. The Bruins also honored the school community by wearing the school’s logo on their helmets.
The Predators invited the first responding officers from the Covenant School shooting to their game, honoring them and the victims.
The shooter was confronted and taken out by the Metro Nashville Police Department led by officers Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo within 14-minutes of the first 911 call.
Nashville defenseman Ryan McDonagh missed the Predators’ game against the Bruins to be with his three daughters, who were at the school during the shooting. He said, “When you have kids and it happens close to home it hits definitely different.”
The Predators won both games, beating the Blues 6-1 and the Bruins 2-1.
