Natalee Holloway’s mom speaks up after Van der Sloot’s shocking confession goes public.
Natalee Holloway’s Mother Speaks Out After Killer’s Shocking Confession
In a dramatic courtroom scene in Birmingham, Alabama, Natalee Holloway’s mother addressed reporters following the appearance of her daughter’s killer.
Just weeks ago, Joran Van der Sloot, now 36 years old, confessed to the murder of Holloway, who went missing in Aruba in 2005 while on vacation.
“After 18 years, Natalie’s case - it’s solved. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” said Beth Holloway, Natalee’s mother.
“Joran Van der Sloot is no longer the suspect in my daughter’s murder. He is the killer,” she added.
Van der Sloot, who had previously been a suspect in the case, pleaded guilty to attempting to extort money from Beth Holloway in 2010, promising to reveal the location of her daughter, according to Fox News.
As part of his plea deal, Van der Sloot was required to provide all information and evidence related to Natalee Holloway’s disappearance, as reported by the Associated Press.
During the court proceedings, Van der Sloot admitted to murdering the 18-year-old after she rejected his sexual advances.
“We agreed to the deal to finally get the answers we’ve been searching for for all these years,” said Holloway’s mother.
“He is evil personified,” added Dave Holloway, Natalee’s father, in a victim’s impact statement.
“Having seen and heard him confess to the brutal murder of our daughter, I believe him,” he stated.
“We are satisfied that our daughter died at his hands and that he acted alone.”
Van der Sloot is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Peru for the 2010 murder of Stephany Flores. He will serve his extortion sentence concurrently.
Judge Anna Manasco described Van der Sloot’s crimes as “heinous” for giving false hope to Holloway’s family through the extortion, as reported by Fox News.
During his court appearance, Van der Sloot expressed a desire to apologize to the Holloway family and claimed to have changed as a person.
According to Holloway’s father’s lawyer, Mark White, Van der Sloot cannot be prosecuted for the murder in Aruba due to the statute of limitations.

The disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005 captivated the nation and led to an international search for answers. Holloway, an 18-year-old from Alabama, vanished while on vacation in Aruba with her friends. Despite extensive efforts to locate her, her disappearance remained a mystery for over a decade.
Joran Van der Sloot, a Dutch national who was living in Aruba at the time, became a prime suspect in Holloway’s case early on. However, without sufficient evidence, he was never charged, and the case grew cold. Van der Sloot’s reputation as a suspect was further solidified when he pleaded guilty to attempting to extort money from Holloway’s mother in 2010.
It was during these proceedings that the 36-year-old confessed to the murder of Natalee Holloway. His plea deal required him to provide all information and evidence related to her disappearance. In court, Van der Sloot admitted to killing her after she rejected his sexual advances.
The Holloway family, who had tirelessly searched for answers for 18 years, expressed mixed emotions following the shocking confession. Beth Holloway, Natalee’s mother, stated that she believed the case was finally over and that Van der Sloot was no longer a suspect but the killer. Dave Holloway, Natalee’s father, echoed this sentiment and described Van der Sloot as “evil personified.” The family is satisfied that their daughter died at his hands and that he acted alone.
While Joran Van der Sloot is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Peru, the resolution of Natalee Holloway’s case brings some closure to her grieving family. The confession provides them with the answers they have been desperately seeking for nearly two decades. However, they also acknowledge that no sentence or punishment can bring their beloved daughter back.
