National Champion Georgia Bulldogs Say “No, Thanks” To White House Invitation

Once again the Georgia Bulldogs, despite winning their second national championship in a row, will not be partaking in the customary White House visit to meet with President Joe Biden.

This time, it’s not because of Covid.

There was already a bit of a flap about a possible White House trip back in February, when Bulldogs defensive lineman Warren Brinson vented on Twitter, posting “No invite to the White House is crazy @POTUS.”

The entire scenario sounds like a game of Telephone, with the White House publicly saying the Bulldogs were invited, and the team saying that the White House never contacted them.

Eventually, the President was pressed when he received a bipartisan letter from Republican Georgia Congressman Earl Carter and Democrat Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.

“The Georgia Bulldogs, led by Head Coach Kirby Smart, completed a historic season in which they accomplished a 15-0 record and won their second National Championship in the same number of years,” the letter stated.

“The 2022-2023 team allowed an average of 14.2 points per game while scoring an incredible 41 points per game. This marks the fourth college football national championship in school history and the 2022-23 Bulldogs become the first team in the College Football Playoff Era to win back-to-back national championships. For years, the college football national champion has had the high honor of being hosted, by the President, at the White House,” they continued. “Due to COVID-19 constraints, the 2021-22 University of Georgia national championship team was unable to come to D.C. It is our hope that this repeat championship team can join the many teams prior that have been honored by the President.”

Unfortunately for the Georgia congressmen, it’s just not going to work out.

Georgia secured their huge win against TCU back in January with a final score of 65-7. In addition to their incredible point differential, they went a perfect 15-0, with former walk-on QB Stetson Bennett named as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
