National Education Union Uses Teachers’ Dues to Promote Harmful Policies for Children
The Damaging Influence of Public-Sector Unions in Our Schools
During the Covid-19 lockdowns, the public got a glimpse of the troubling reality within our schools. The power and negative impact of public-sector unions, especially in education, became glaringly apparent.
The damage caused by these unions is immeasurable, and they have a significant amount of money at their disposal to perpetuate this harm.
Unions collect “dues money” from hard-working teachers and divert it towards politically driven initiatives that have nothing to do with providing a quality education. Instead, these funds are used to promote communist-style propaganda and undermine the efforts of dedicated educators.
The consequences are evident: a significant number of American children now reject American values, and test scores in reading and math show that nearly half of the nation’s students are not performing at grade level.
What’s worse is that the unions are doubling down on their harmful agenda.
The National Education Association (NEA) released its annual financial report for the upcoming fiscal year, revealing their troubling priorities. Millions of dollars are being funneled back to state union halls and used to advance political agendas that undermine American values. Additionally, funds are being used to undermine successful charter schools and prevent families from escaping failing government schools.
Even more money is being allocated to efforts that sexualize children, support abortions, and impose transgender ideology on our youth without parental consent. The unions also contribute to suffocating taxes, open borders, and socialized healthcare.
It is not surprising that a left-wing organization like NEA would spend millions on leftist causes. However, it is concerning that they claim to be a union while using funds from members who oppose their political spending.
The mishandling of teacher dues is undemocratic and should not be allowed. NEA’s false commitment to “educating” all children and representing teachers democratically is exposed by their actual spending priorities.
Following the Money
Let’s examine some of the organizations receiving substantial funding from NEA, claiming to be ”progressive” and “just.”
Moveon.org Civic Action, known for its opposition to MAGA Republicans and former President Donald Trump, received $110,000. This organization supports Black Lives Matter, which openly seeks to disrupt the traditional family structure. Shouldn’t teachers be protecting children from such ideologies?
The National Action Network House of Justice, backed by NEA, advocates for criminal justice reform, voting rights, and fair housing. While these issues may sound noble, the party championing them consists of Marxist socialists who aim to destroy our liberties.
Another NEA beneficiary, the Progressive State Leaders Committee, promotes leftist public policies closely aligned with the Democratic Attorneys General Association and received $225,000.
Perhaps your child will receive a biased version of the Democratic Attorneys General Association’s priorities in their civics class, assuming schools still prioritize teaching civics.
Promoting Transgenderism
What your child will undoubtedly encounter is a constant stream of woke-style racism, class warfare, sexual grooming of young children, efforts to convince them they were born in the ”wrong body,” and unisex restrooms that expose unwilling females to potential harm.
Imagine a scenario where a taller boy declares himself a girl and takes a spot on your daughter’s basketball team, leaving her on the bench.
This is not an exaggeration. The evidence of this communist-style indoctrination of our children is overwhelming, and NEA is funding this nightmare. NEA has given $100,000 to The Trevor Project, which claims to support LGBT children but actually exposes them to strangers online. The poster child for The Trevor Project, Sam Brinton, is a former Biden administration employee with a controversial background.
In California, Shirley Nash Weber, a powerful politician funded by unions, was appointed secretary of state after spearheading the implementation of the Healthy Youth Act, which introduced sexualization to kindergarten classrooms.
While many are aware of the generous pensions and inflated salaries enjoyed by public-sector employees, we must also consider the immense cost to our children.
Teachers Must Take a Stand
Teachers who disagree with the union’s principles can refuse to pay dues and withhold their financial support. Although they may face demonization and stigma, they will be making a moral decision and refusing to be complicit in the harm inflicted on our children and country.
We encourage virtuous teachers to join the thousands who have already rejected union subjugation. Teachers have the power to free themselves from this destructive influence; they just need the courage to take a stand.
What are the potential consequences of public-sector unions prioritizing divisive ideologies over providing a quality education and promoting academic excellence
Exposure to transgender ideology promoted by public-sector unions. These unions actively support and fund organizations such as Gender Spectrum and GLSEN, which are dedicated to pushing transgender ideology in schools.
Gender Spectrum received $20,000 from NEA and is known for its advocacy of gender identity and expression. This organization promotes the belief that children should be able to identify as any gender they choose, regardless of their biological sex. It encourages schools to adopt policies that allow transgender students to use the restroom and locker room facilities of their choice, potentially compromising the safety and privacy of all students.
GLSEN, funded by NEA with $100,000, also promotes transgender ideology in schools. The organization encourages educators to incorporate transgender themes into the curriculum and to create “safe spaces” for transgender students. While it is important to create inclusive environments for all students, it is equally important to respect parental rights and ensure that controversial topics regarding gender are approached in an age-appropriate manner.
These examples highlight the disturbing reality of public-sector unions using teachers’ hard-earned money to push their own political agendas. They prioritize divisive ideologies over providing a quality education and promoting academic excellence. By diverting funds towards these initiatives, unions are undermining the efforts of dedicated educators who are trying to provide a well-rounded education to students.
It is crucial for parents, educators, and policymakers to recognize the damaging influence of public-sector unions in our schools. The unions’ misuse of funds, promotion of divisive ideologies, and disregard for parental rights are all factors contributing to the decline in educational standards and the erosion of American values.
Reforming the role of public-sector unions in education is essential to ensure that our schools prioritize academic achievement, respect parental rights, and provide a well-rounded education that prepares students for success in their future endeavors. Teachers deserve better representation and the freedom to voice their concerns without being coerced into supporting political causes they may not agree with.
As the Covid-19 pandemic has shown, the influence of public-sector unions in our schools is an issue that needs to be addressed promptly. Our children’s education and future depend on it.
