NBA-Grizzlies’ Morant suspended at least two games after gun video

(Reuters) – Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been suspended by the team for at least the next two games after he was seen displaying what appeared to be a gun at a nightclub on his Instagram live account early Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for the NBA stated that the league knew about the incident and was conducting an investigation.

After the All-Star, aged 23, was reported in the Washington Post this week as being accused of repeatedly punching a teenage boy during a pick-up basketball game. He then emerged from the scene with a weapon.

The paper stated that Morant also threatened to make threats to the Memphis Mall security head. This led the police department filing a report.

In the two separate incidents, no charges were filed from last summer.

Morant has averaged 27.1 points, 8.2 assists, and 6.0 rebounds over 53 games for the Grizzlies this season, which are second in the Western Conference.

He will be absent from Sunday’s match against the Clippers as well as Tuesday’s against the Lakers.
