Netflix film crew in Hawaii attacked by sharks, reminiscent of Jaws.

A film crew working on a Netflix documentary in Hawaii had a heart-pounding encounter with a “horrific” tiger shark attack that sent them scrambling back to shore.

The crew was filming a captivating four-part documentary series called “Our Planet II” when the incident unfolded.

“The original idea was to capture underwater footage of tiger sharks lurking in the shallows at Laysan, one of the Hawaiian islands,” shared series producer Huw Cordey in an interview with Forbes. However, on the first day, as the crew ventured out in inflatable boats, they were unexpectedly attacked by two sharks. It was like a scene straight out of ‘Jaws.’ The crew was in a state of panic, desperately making an emergency landing on the sandy beach.”

Show director Toby Nowlan described the sharks’ behavior as “extremely unusual,” as reported by Radio Times. “They were incredibly hungry, perhaps due to a scarcity of natural prey, and were willing to attack anything they encountered in the water.”

Nowlan vividly recalled the terrifying attack, saying, “A surge of water came rushing towards us, and a tiger shark leapt at our boat, tearing massive holes in it. The boat was torn apart. We frantically tried to fend off the shark, but it was relentless. It was a horrifying experience. That was the second shark that had attacked us that day.”

Earlier this month, a shocking video footage of a Russian man being devoured by a tiger shark near an Egyptian resort went viral. The distressing recording captured 23-year-old Vladimir Popov’s desperate cries for help as onlookers filmed the gruesome attack. In the video, someone can be heard saying, “It’s eating his remains now.”

Fortunately, the Russian man’s girlfriend managed to escape the shark’s clutches as they were swimming together in the ocean.

Witnesses swiftly captured the shark and beat it to death with clubs. Upon examination, Popov’s remains were found inside the predator’s intestines.

While white sharks, famously known as “Great Whites,” often instill fear due to movies like “Jaws,” it is the tiger shark that holds the title of the second most dangerous shark species to humans, according to the International Shark Attack File. They are notorious for their unprovoked and unpredictable attacks on people.
