Nevada Crash Is 3rd Fatal One Tied to Air Medical Service
RENO, Nev.—The company that owns the medical transport aircraft that crashed in northern Nevada last week, killing all five people aboard, has been tied to two other fatal crashes in the last four years.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that 11 people died from the planes of Guardian Flight after a review of the records.
Bruce Landsberg (Vice Chairman of NTSB) said that the company now faces its fourth National Transportation Safety Board investigation since 2018.
Investigators believe that a single-engine Pilatus PC12, which was traveling from Reno to Salt Lake City, broke down on February 24. The vehicle crashed to the ground at Stagecoach in rural South Dakota, about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Reno. Scott Walton (46), the pilot and Ryan Watson (27) were among those who died. Mark Rand, age 69 was the victim. Terri Rand, his wife of 66 years, was with him.
Sarah Sulick spoke for the National Transportation Safety Board. She said that a team of seven members was sent to Nevada to examine the accident. They are now wrapping up their on-site investigation. According to her, the National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson Sarah Sulick said that the team had recovered the electronic navigation equipment from an aircraft at the accident site. It has been sent to Washington, D.C. for analysis.
