Never-Before-Seen VIDEO of Sunken Titanic Released—Marks First Time Humans Feast Eyes on Wreck

Alvin and his crew, a human-occupied vehicle (HOV), drank the shipwreck’s haunting bow while recording it with the vehicle’s underwater camera. These three scientists were the first to see the wreck. “unsinkable” Since her tragic 1912 voyage, RMS Titanic has been a passenger-liner.

The 1986 expedition captured footage at the bottom of North Atlantic about 400 miles from Newfoundland. This is the exact spot where the ship sank almost 75 years ago. Much of that footage remained unreleased—until now.

Robert Ballard (WHOI), a Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, led the search team that found the final resting site of the ship at 12,500 feet under the ocean’s surface. Ballard returned to the wrecksite nine months later along with his three-person HOV Alvin as well as the remotely operated vehicle (ROV), Jason Jr.

They used these robotic devices to create the first ever video of the most captivating shipwreck that the planet has ever witnessed. It made international headlines.

This marks the official remastering James Cameron’s blockbuster masterpiece from 1997. “Titanic” WHOI debuted in February 80 minutes previously unseen footage of the 1986 Expedition for public voyeurs. “The newly released video highlights the remarkable achievement by the team to bring iconic images of the ship back to the surface,” WHOI was mentioned in a press release.

This footage is from the same expedition. We join Ballard aboard Alvin and his crew as they search for an area to land their deep-sea vehicle.

Jason Jr. visits a cabin of the chief officer while driving through dark waters. Remote camera captures the once-majestic promenade of the ship, where voyagers used to gaze out over the sea horizon from their armchairs or recliners.

HOV Alvin moves along the bottom of the ocean, looking for any debris around the ship, about an hour in. As we follow her hull, we spot tendril-like features. “rusticles” These linger hauntingly, formed decades ago by the ship’s landing on the seafloor.

Alvin is seen looking down at her forward deck and gaining a feeling of her size.

Many are familiar with the iconic bow railings of the ship, which were made popular by the film that gave her its name. They make an appearance in this captivating footage.
