A previously unseen document relating to the alleged indictment of Donald Trump has come to light, potentially undermining the case currently being built against him by Manhattan’s district attorney.
According to a letter sent by Michael Cohen’s lawyer to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in 2018, Trump’s lawyer used his own personal funds to pay adult film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000. The letter also states that neither Trump nor his businesses were involved in the payment and Cohen was not reimbursed by them.
The letter contradicts Cohen’s claim, made under oath, that Trump directed him to use his own funds to pay off Daniels.
Stephen Ryan, Cohen’s lawyer noted in the letter “neither the Trump organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.”
In response to accusations of improper campaign financing, the letter was sent to the FEC during an investigation that was started by the group Common Cause.
On the final day of the House Republican Policy Retreat in Orlando, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy held a press availability that focused on one of his top priorities this session: responding to the challenge from mainland China.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is allegedly caught hiding evidence. One America’s Caitlin Sinclair has more.
While New York City and the country braces for a possible arrest of President Donald Trump, the chairwoman of the House GOP conference said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s targeting of Trump makes him more popular.
