New CNN CEO admits company’s unpreparedness for the future on day one.
New CNN CEO Expresses Concerns About the Company’s Future
In a bold and candid statement, CNN’s new chief executive, Mark Thompson, declared that the network is “nowhere near ready for the future” on his first day in office. Thompson’s remarks, shared by network senior media reporter Oliver Darcy, highlighted both optimism and reservations about CNN’s future.
Thompson acknowledged the dedication of CNN employees who still believe in the network’s mission and the importance of trustworthy news in today’s world. However, he emphasized the need for CNN to adapt to changing news consumption habits and focus on success in an era where television viewership is declining.
“From now on, we must be committed to presenting news in whatever form, in whatever product, makes the most sense for audiences today,” Thompson stated. ”Conventional TV will remain critical, but it can no longer define us. It’s one platform in a growing portfolio of platforms.”
Thompson also acknowledged that CNN’s digital products are lagging behind the current state of the art and expressed his determination to change that. He emphasized the importance of reporting facts and vowed that CNN would follow the news wherever it leads, regardless of political affiliations.
“Let’s cover political news proportionately and fairly, but not be frightened by our own shadows,” Thompson urged. “We do need to pick up the pace now if we want CNN to be one of the winners in this era of news.”
CNN has faced challenges in attracting viewers in recent years, with changes in leadership and lineup failing to resonate with audiences. Thompson’s appointment as CEO marks a new chapter for the network, as he aims to steer CNN towards a more successful future.
A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:
What if you woke up one morning and half of the people you count on had just vanished overnight?
That happened to me recently. I got up, came to work here at The Western Journal, and when I got to my office, literally half of our readers had vanished. They were just gone. We had been nuked by Facebook, and it had happened almost instantly.
But it was even worse. Facebook hit us at the same time 90 percent of advertisers had essentially boycotted us. “Brutal” is a word I’ve used a lot lately.
The fight for the truth is brutal. The fight for America’s soul is brutal. What the government is doing to Jan. 6 detainees is brutal. What surgeons are doing to confused children is brutal.
It’s a fight we must win. But we can’t win without you.
A subscription to The Western Journal will go much farther than you think. It costs less than a cup of Starbucks coffee, and for that small price you get access to ALL of our content — news, commentary, and premium articles — you’ll experience a radically reduced number of ads, and most importantly you will be vitally supporting the fight against leftism.
Can I count on you to subscribe today? We need your help. Benjamin Franklin summed up the situation we’re all facing when he said, “We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”
We plan to hang in and fight. Please help us. Please subscribe today.
Sincerely,
Josh Manning

How can individuals support the fight against big tech companies and ensure that the truth prevails
E same time as they hit hundreds of other conservative publishers. It was an organized attack aimed at silencing voices that they didn’t agree with.
It’s a scary thought, isn’t it? The power that these big tech companies have to control what you see and hear, and ultimately, what you think. And it’s not just happening to us. It’s happening all over the country, to people and organizations who dare to challenge the mainstream narrative.
That’s why independent news organizations like The Western Journal are so important. We refuse to be silenced. We refuse to let these tech giants control the conversation. We are committed to bringing you the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it may be.
But we can’t do it alone. We need your support. We need you to stand with us, to stand up against the big tech bullies who think they can control what you see and hear.
So please, if you value independent, courageous journalism, consider supporting The Western Journal. Together, we can fight back, we can make a difference, and we can ensure that the truth will always prevail.
