A Stunning Revelation: Google’s Biased Search Results
According to a groundbreaking study by the Media Research Center (MRC), Google’s search results are alarmingly biased when it comes to politics.
By simply searching for “Presidential campaign websites,” Google only displayed Democratic Party candidates, some of whom aren’t even running in 2024. Surprisingly, notable Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was nowhere to be found, despite being second in the Democratic race.
What’s more concerning is that no Republican candidates appeared on the first page of results, even though the search was conducted just before the first GOP debate. This is a time when Americans are seeking clarity on the candidates, turning to the internet for information.
The results of the analysis are almost comical if they weren’t such a threat to democracy. Joe Biden’s campaign predictably topped the list, but the subsequent results included Marianne Williamson, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren. Seriously?
This study utilized a clean algorithm that isn’t influenced by prior searches or cookies. Therefore, what we see is Google’s baseline for search results, and it’s evident that Google, despite being expected to be a neutral resource, is far from it.
Google’s Manipulation Exposed
“Google has erased every threat to Joe Biden. We know that Google pulled out all the stops to put Hillary Clinton in the White House and they have continued to interfere in our elections ever since. Compared to social media platforms, it is harder to document what Google does in secret but we at MRC Free Speech America have caught them red handed again.” – Dan Schneider, MRC’s Vice President for Free Speech
This isn’t the first time Google’s bias has been exposed. In October 2020, MRC discovered Google’s manipulation of search results leading up to the midterm elections. Once again, the suppression of speech was directed solely against conservative voices.
According to Schneider, “Google consistently stands apart from all other search engines, and not in a good way. We have repeatedly witnessed Google and Big Tech social media platforms treating Republican candidates unfairly compared to their Democrat opponents.”
There are two possible explanations for this bias: either these skewed results are intentional, which Google denies, or the implicit left-wing bias of the software engineers and others within the company is infiltrating the search engine.
According to Open Secrets, 88% of political donations from Google employees go to Democrats. So, it’s no surprise that the product they produce aligns with a liberal agenda.
It’s also unsurprising that Democrats in Congress oppose investigations or legislation targeting Big Tech political bias. After all, it benefits them.
This bias doesn’t just harm conservatives; it harms the entire country. Whether it’s elections, COVID, Critical Race Theory, or the transgender issue, Google has stifled perfectly reasonable positions.
With over 90% of the world using Google as their primary search engine, how can voters be properly informed about candidates and issues when the ultimate arbiter of online relevance is stacked against one side?
The time for Congress to act is now. They must continue to hold Big Tech bosses accountable and pass legislation that cracks down on ideological bias in the industry.
Search Engine Bias: A Silent Censorship
“Search engine bias is a silent form of censorship, a lie of omission if you will. That makes it no less perilous to our politics because people don’t know what they don’t know, and Google seems happy to keep its users in ignorant bliss, as long as it helps the Left.”
Conservatives can no longer ignore this issue and pretend it isn’t happening. Google searches have become deeply intertwined in the daily lives of Americans, and this blatant bias cannot be tolerated. In today’s age, Google search results shape our reality.
While the First Amendment grants us the right to free speech, it becomes meaningless if tech giants and social media barons manipulate what average Americans see.
The bias is real, it’s proven, and it must be stopped, whether by the industry itself or through government intervention.
