The new U.S. ambassador to Mexico arrived for a meeting with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. On Saturday, Ken Salazar addressed the media as he highlighted the issue of border security and said people on both sides of the wall have been living in fear.
Salazar also said the recent hurricanes and droughts were serious issues. He added severe weather conditions needed to be addressed.
Other topics officials aimed to discuss were migration, infrastructure and trade. Salazar went on to describe the significance of the meeting.
“In the conversations we have had, there is big hope,” he stated. “So two years ahead from now to 2024, are going to be very important, very historic for the United States and Mexico.”
Today, I will join @VP, @SecBlinken, @SecRaimondo , @AmbassadorTai, and Amb Ken Salazar for the U.S.-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED), where I am looking forward to discussing how the U.S. and Mexico can deepen our collaboration in strategic areas.
