New York Guardian Angels take down alleged migrant shoplifter live on Hannity

New York City’s Guardian Angels are going viral after members of the volunteer crime prevention group took down an alleged migrant shoplifter Tuesday live on Hannity.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. while Fox News’s Sean Hannity was interviewing Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa from Times Square.

Hannity was asking Sliwa about the plan by New York City Mayor Eric Adams to spend over $53 million on prepaid cards for illegal immigrants when Sliwa asked the camera crew to turn around and show his guardians detain an alleged illegal immigrant and shoplifter.

“In fact, our guys have just taken down one of the migrant guys right here on the corner of 42nd and 7th while all this is taking place,” Sliwa said. “They’ve taken over! They’ve taken over!”

A pan of the camera showed the guardians confronting the purported criminal in the heart of Times Square.

“He is out of control, out of control,” Sliwa said before the guardians got the individual on the ground.

The shot then cut back to Hannity in the studio before Sliwa, who ran against Adams for the mayor’s office, returned to the frame.

“He had been shoplifting, first,” he said, describing the scene that had unfolded. “The Guardian Angels spotted him, stopped him. He resisted, and let’s just say we gave him a little pain compliance.”

“His mother back in Venezuela felt the vibrations. He’s sucking concrete. The cops scraped him off the asphalt. He’s on his way to jail, but they’ll cut him loose.”

This incident is just more evidence of why New Yorkers need to take back 42nd Street, according to Sliwa.

“These illegals think they own this street. They think they rule the night,” he said. “This is our country. If they can’t abide by the rules, then we’re gonna kick them back from where they came.”

Hannity described the role of the volunteer guardians as “amazing.”

“Police are very appreciative of the support you and the Guardian Angels offer them,” the Fox host said.

“Unfortunately, they’ve been told hands off,” Sliwa responded, referring to New York City law enforcement. “Well guess what, we don’t keep our hands off. You shoplift, you commit crime, you assault people … you don’t belong in our country, and we’re gonna make sure you pay a price for that!”

“They got a little bit of [a] taste of what the Guardian Angels are gonna do to liberate Times Square from them.”

After the incident, the New York City Police Department stated they responded to a call regarding “a disorderly male,” but they did not confirm the individual was a migrant or shoplifter, according to a report.

“Upon arrival officers observed a male being detained by bystanders,” a NYPD spokesperson said.

“Officers were informed that the male had repeatedly attempted to interfere with and disrupt a live television interview. The male was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.”
