NY is aggressively using the law to target peaceful pro-life advocates.
Gotham’s Persecuted Pro-Lifers
Late last month, I witnessed a heartbreaking scene in Nassau County District Court. Two of my friends, who had already been sentenced in federal court just days earlier, were now facing charges of trespassing. They were found guilty and sentenced to jail time for their involvement in the ”Red Rose Rescue” mission. Their crime? Entering an abortion facility to hand roses to women, urging them to choose life.
As they were led away to begin their sentences, the crowd shouted words of support and admiration. It was a powerful moment, but it also highlighted the challenges faced by pro-life activists in New York.
Gotham’s Radical Pro-Abortion Activists
In July 2021, during a Mass shortly after the Dobbs decision, pro-abortion activists gathered outside the church, screaming and banging drums. Their chants of “Thank God for abortion” echoed through the walls. This was just the beginning of a series of confrontations between pro-life and pro-abortion groups.
These activists, members of New York City for Abortion Rights (NYCFAR), are known for their aggressive tactics and ideological fervor. Some have even been involved in acts of eco-terrorism. They view violence as a means to their end, disregarding the humanity of the unborn and the rights of pro-life advocates.
Pro-Life Persecution
Being pro-life in New York means being treated as a second-class citizen. Our beliefs are not respected, and our safety is often compromised. I have personally experienced physical assault and witnessed the intimidation tactics used by pro-abortion activists.
Instead of protecting the rights of pro-life advocates, the attorney general of New York, Letitia James, has chosen to sue and label us as domestic terrorists. She is seeking to establish buffer zones around abortion facilities, further limiting our ability to peacefully express our views.
Pro-Life Resistance in America’s Abortion Capital
New York state has become the epicenter of the abortion industry, with a governor who prioritizes abortion access over other pressing issues. Our efforts to defend the dignity of human life are met with hostility and legal persecution.
Despite these challenges, we are fighting back. We have filed countersuits against defamation and civil rights violations, and we continue to appeal unjust sentences. The persecution may be intensifying, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to the pro-life cause.
The road ahead may be difficult, but we will not waver in our stand for life.
