New Zealand Prime Minister Fumbles, Then Fails Altogether When Asked To Define ‘Woman’

New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins was unable to define the term “woman” during a recent press conference. A reporter asked him how he and his government would define a woman, to which he replied that people define their own genders. The reporter pressed him further, but Hipkins repeated his non-answer, stating that he had not pre-formulated an answer and that people define their gender identity for themselves. Hipkins took office earlier this year and replaced the previous female Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. His inability to define the term “woman” has attracted criticism and mockery from people such as British television host Piers Morgan.

Defining what a woman is has become a pervasive question in the trans movement, with some suggesting that the answer is subjective and others arguing that there is a definitive answer. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson and author J.K. Rowling are other notable figures who have struggled with this question or expressed controversial views on it.
