Newsom warns school board over rejection of textbook promoting gay ‘child sexual predator’.
Newsom Threatens School Board for Rejecting Textbook Celebrating Gay ‘Child Sexual Predator’
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom has issued a stern warning to a school district in his state for their refusal to adopt a curriculum that celebrates Harvey Milk, a gay-rights icon and a controversial figure known for his involvement in child sexual abuse.
The Temecula Valley School Board in Riverside County made the decision in May to exclude certain materials from a textbook that glorifies Milk, who was the first openly gay elected official in California’s history.
Milk is often hailed as a martyr for the LGBT community, while his problematic past is conveniently overlooked by those who promote his legacy.
In a 2008 film about Milk, actor Sean Penn portrayed the former San Francisco Board of Supervisors member, but the movie failed to mention Milk’s documented sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy named Jack McKinley in 1964, which tragically ended in McKinley’s suicide.
Furthermore, those who celebrate California’s annual Harvey Milk Day conveniently ignore his association with deranged cult leader Jim Jones, who orchestrated the mass suicide of 918 people in the Jonestown cult in Guyana in 1978, just a week after Milk’s assassination.
Given the troubling truths about Milk’s character, educators in Temecula made the responsible decision to protect young children from celebrating him in their classrooms.
During a board meeting, school board president Dr. Joseph Komrosky even referred to Milk as a “pedophile,” expressing his concerns as a father about including someone with such a disturbing history in the curriculum for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
In May, the school board, led by Komrosky, voted to exclude supplementary materials about Milk from classrooms as they prepare to adopt a new book called “Social Studies Alive!”
Unsurprisingly, this decision was met with accusations of “book banning” and drew the attention of KTLA-TV, which reported on the standoff between Sacramento and the rational voices in Temecula.
Reacting to the school board’s actions, Newsom took to Twitter to threaten them, stating, “If these extremist school board members won’t do their job, we will — and fine them for their incompetence.”

CA is stepping in.
We’re going to purchase the book for these students — the same one that hundreds of thousands of kids are already using.

Newsom also laughably accused the rational board members of engaging in “cancel culture” in an accompanying statement.
“Cancel culture has gone too far in Temecula. Radicalized zealots on the school board rejected a textbook used by hundreds of thousands of students, and now children will begin the school year without the tools they need to learn,” Newsom said.
He further threatened the school board, stating that if they fail to provide basic materials for the start of the school year, the state will step in, deliver the book to the children and their parents, and send the district the bill while imposing fines for violating state law.
Komrosky, who stands by his decision, clarified that his concerns were not related to Milk’s sexuality but rather his inappropriate relationship with a minor.
“My comments have been misappropriated as an attack on the LGBTQ community,” Komrosky said in a statement. “My comments were non-gender specific, non-sexual orientation specific, and aligned with the view of the California legislature: that 33-year-old adults should not have sexual relationships with 16-year-old minors, regardless of gender.”
Komrosky is prepared to stand up against Newsom and has revealed that he has received death threats following the governor’s tweet.
Amidst this standoff, it is heartening to see adults finally advocating for the protection of vulnerable children. The days of the left grooming them without opposition seem to be coming to an end.
Regardless of the outcome, this conflict highlights the importance of standing up for what is right and safeguarding the well-being of children.
