The Cleveland Browns Cut Defensive⁤ Lineman Perrion Winfrey After ⁢Alleged⁢ Threats with Firearm

The Cleveland Browns have ​made the decision to‌ release defensive lineman Perrion ‍Winfrey following accusations ⁣that‌ he threatened ⁢two women ⁣with ⁢a firearm in⁢ the⁣ city on ‍Tuesday.

WJW-TV reported that​ Winfrey, 22,​ encountered two women‌ he ⁣knew in the lobby‍ of a⁤ hotel. According to ‍one of⁣ the⁢ women,⁤ she insulted⁢ Winfrey after he‌ ignored ⁤her ⁢comment,⁣ which led to ⁢his ⁢anger and the ⁤display of⁢ a handgun.

One of the women ⁤claimed ⁢to have recorded‍ part of the ⁣altercation ⁤on her ​phone, ⁢and ​a⁢ video posted⁤ on social media appears​ to ⁣show Winfrey implying he was armed ​as he ⁢pursued ⁤the⁤ women⁢ on a street in ‍downtown‍ Cleveland.

Although Winfrey was⁤ not⁤ present‍ when the ​police ⁢arrived, ​they⁤ are‌ currently ​investigating the matter. ⁣The ‍Cleveland ⁣Browns took ​to Twitter⁢ to‌ announce ‌Winfrey’s ‌release from the‍ team.

The tweet included a statement ⁢from the⁢ team on‍ their‌ website, which did not ‍provide any ​additional information or comments regarding the alleged incident. The statement‍ simply ‌stated that ​Winfrey had been waived and mentioned his performance during⁤ his rookie season.

This is not the ​first ‍time Winfrey⁢ has had‍ a‌ run-in‌ with ⁣the ⁤police. In ‌April,⁣ he was charged ‌with ⁣misdemeanor assault in Texas after‌ allegedly⁤ grabbing a woman⁤ he was ⁤dating‌ during⁤ an argument about a dog⁣ and car‍ keys. Additionally, Winfrey was⁣ recently a victim‌ of an armed robbery outside ⁣a ⁢nightclub, ⁤as⁤ reported by USA Today.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Winfrey in ⁢the fourth‍ round of the NFL draft ‌in⁣ 2022. ‌Prior to his time ‌with the Browns, ‍he played‍ for the University of⁤ Oklahoma and⁣ Iowa‌ Western⁣ Community College.
