The Cincinnati Bengals were dealt a blow during practice when their star quarterback, Joe Burrow, was carried off the field on Thursday. The 26-year-old NFL player suffered a non-contact injury to his right calf at Kettering Health Practice Fields in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Burrow was in the midst of a play, scrambling out of the pocket, when he suddenly lost the ability to put pressure on his right leg. He hopped on one foot before ultimately falling to the ground. The video of the incident prompted concern from NFL reporter Ari Meirov, who commented, “Oh boy. This is the play Joe Burrow suffered his injury… and it does not look good.”

Concerned for Burrow’s well-being, health personnel quickly placed him on a cart and wheeled him off the field. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor attempted to reassure reporters, stating that the cart was standard procedure in such situations.

While the exact extent of Burrow’s injury is yet to be determined, initial reports suggest it may be a calf strain. Further testing will be required for a definitive diagnosis. Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who played with Burrow at LSU, expressed optimism about his teammate’s condition, stating, “We always give each other that nod… He gave me a nod he’s all right. He’s a strong dude.”

As news of Burrow’s injury spread, sports fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One user commented on the nature of non-contact injuries, suggesting that turf should be replaced with grass to prevent such incidents. Another user emphasized the severity of the injury, stating that it was more than just a cramp.
Non-contact injuries are brutal. If that’s turf, they need to replace it with grass.

According to the Orthopedic Center for Sports Medicine, recovery from a moderate calf strain can take up to three weeks, while a severe strain may require up to six months of rehabilitation. The Bengals and their fans will anxiously await further updates on Burrow’s condition.
