NFL’s Broncos Sack Rookie Head Coach After Embarrassing Loss
The Denver Broncos fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett Monday, following a humiliating 51-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams that dropped the team’s record to 4-11.
Hackett, who was in his first year coaching the team, lost the confidence of the team’s new ownership, led by Walmart heir Rob Walton. Despite the presence of a quarterback and a prized passer, the Broncos have had a difficult season scoring points. acquisition Russell Wilson.
“Following extensive conversations with (general manager) George (Paton) and our ownership group, we determined a new direction would ultimately be in the best interest of the Broncos,” Walton’s son-in-law, Greg Penner, said in a statement. “This change was made now out of respect for everyone involved and allows us to immediately begin the search for a new head coach.”
The Broncos are already guaranteed to miss the playoffs for the seventh straight season. The team won three consecutive Super Bowls under Pat Bowlen, and went to seven Super Bowls over 30 years.
Hackett, who had previously served three seasons as the Green Bay Packers’ offensive coach, was hired by Hackett in January. He edged out former Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, who instead was hired by the Minnesota Vikings who are 12-3 under him. The Broncos made Hackett their first-round pick and two second-rounders, then signed Wilson to a five year, $245 million contract.
Nathaniel Hackett didn’t even get a full year as NFL head coach. After giving up all their picks and having Russell Wilson signed to a contract worth $200 million+, the Broncos are now in a very bad place. You must get Mr. Unlimited fixed. It is possible to fix it unlimited. Is there anyone who can do it? Who’s your hire?

Wilson is having his worst season and he played poorly on Sunday again, throwing three interceptions. The team averages 15.5 points per match with the potential future Hall of Famer.
Hackett has made a number of questionable calls throughout the season. He started the season by having his kicker attempt a 64 yard field goal rather than going for a first-down while Seattle was leading 17-16 with less that a minute left.
Walton was the head of a group that paid an unprecedented $4.65 billion to the team in a deal signed just before the season began. Walton is the 19th-richest person in the country, with a Forbes-estimated worth of $60 Billion. He is also the league’s most powerful owner. Carolina follows. Panthers David Tepper, the owner, is worth $16.7 million.
The team’s history dates back to 1960. Peyton Manning, John Elway, and Champ Bailey were among the players who led it to victory in the NFL.
