Nikki Haley advances in US Presidential race.
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has emerged as a strong contender in the race for U.S. president, according to a new poll. In a key battleground state, Haley is now tied with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The poll also shows that Haley would defeat President Joe Biden in a general election.
Haley’s rise in popularity comes as she campaigns vigorously in New Hampshire. She recently co-hosted an education town hall with the influential conservative group Moms For Liberty (M4L), focusing on empowering parents in decision-making. Tiffany Justice, co-founder of M4L, praised Haley as a “champion of moms and dads.”
At the town hall event, Haley signed a pledge to honor fundamental parents’ rights if elected as president. This gesture solidified her position as a formidable contender in the crowded GOP primary race.
Haley’s commitment to parental rights was evident at the recent meeting in Manchester, where she and Tiffany Justice headlined. As president, Haley pledged to advance policies that strengthen parental involvement, increase transparency, defend against government overreach, and secure parental rights at all levels of government.
Following the town hall event, a CNN poll conducted by SSRS showed that Haley is the only favored Republican over President Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup. She received 49 percent of the votes, while President Biden garnered 42 percent.
This poll from a traditionally Democrat-leaning news outlet follows a New Hampshire poll that placed Haley in a dead heat with DeSantis as the second choice to former President Donald Trump. Additionally, a poll in Haley’s home state of South Carolina showed her ahead of President Trump.
Despite trailing DeSantis in a second-choice ballot survey, Haley remains ahead of other Republican contenders, including former Vice President Mike Pence. Even some of DeSantis’s loyalists, like former Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner, are crossing over to support Haley, citing her as the candidate with the best chance to win the general election.
Haley’s focus on combating woke ideology in schools has resonated with concerned parents. She proposes ending the U.S. Department of Education’s power to dictate how federal educational funds are used by states. Haley also emphasizes the importance of parents making decisions for their children and opposes school administrations taking custody of kids.
Independent voters and moderate Republicans are increasingly impressed with Haley’s strong stance and experience as both a governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. While some express reservations about her support for President Trump, many view her as a solid alternative.
With the primaries in South Carolina and New Hampshire approaching, Haley has about four months to maintain her momentum and close the gap between her and President Trump. The upcoming second GOP debate on September 27 presents another opportunity for her to attract more supporters.
Haley’s rising popularity as an underdog in the race has been fueled by her spirited exchanges with fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy during the first GOP debate. Her commitment to strong foreign policy and her determination to stand up for what she believes in have resonated with voters.
Woke Ideology Concerns
Haley’s strong stance against woke ideology in schools has struck a chord with parents. She proposes limiting the power of the U.S. Department of Education and empowering parents to make decisions for their children. Concerns about transgenderism being discussed in classrooms without allowing open dialogue have also been raised.
Former New Hampshire State Rep. Elizabeth Gay, a moderate Republican leaning towards DeSantis, expressed growing admiration for Haley’s determination. Independent voters in the crowd also took notice of Haley’s performance in the GOP debate, with some appreciating her status as a woman candidate.
With her unique position as the only woman among the Republican candidates, Haley has a prime opportunity to make an impact in the first-in-the-nation primary states of South Carolina and New Hampshire.
