Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has accepted a position as vice chair at the public relations firm Edelman, specifically within its Global Advisory consultancy focused on public and government affairs. In a press release, Haley expressed her enthusiasm for joining Edelman, emphasizing the importance for brands to effectively communicate in a complex landscape of business and politics. She believes her role will help clients navigate upcoming challenges.
Haley’s transition to Edelman follows a period of political activity, including a primary challenge against former President Donald Trump, who previously appointed her as U.N. ambassador from 2017 to 2018. Despite her recent political endeavors, including withdrawing from the presidential race in March, her ties with Trump remain significant, as he hinted at potentially offering her a position in his administration if he were to win the upcoming election.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley accepted a position at public relations firm Edelman.
Haley will serve as vice chair for EGA, Edelman’s Global Advisory consultancy focused on public and government affairs, according to a press release from the firm on Wednesday.
“In a time of growing complexities in business, policy, and politics — brands need to anticipate what’s coming next. Whether managing a crisis or celebrating a success, industry leaders must be ready to communicate clearly and share their vision forward,” Haley said in a statement announcing her new job. “I’m excited to join the team at Edelman to help their clients navigate the challenges ahead.”
Her decision to join forces with the PR giant comes after former President Donald Trump appeared to suggest he would offer Haley a role in his administration should he win the presidential election in November. The pair’s relationship goes back years, with Trump tapping Haley to serve as his ambassador to the U.N. from 2017-2018. However, the former South Carolina governor attracted her former boss’s ire after launching a primary challenge against him last year.
Haley dropped out of the presidential race in March, later endorsing Trump with a high-profile speech at the Republican National Convention. In May, Trump seemed to hold out an olive branch to the woman he once called a “birdbrain”, saying “I think she’s going to be on our team because we have a lot of the same ideas, the same thoughts.”
“We had a nasty campaign, it was pretty nasty,” he admitted. “But she’s a very capable person, and I’m sure she’s going to be on our team in some form, absolutely.”
Haley’s announcement Wednesday appears to undercut suggestions she could join forces with a hypothetical Trump administration, although anything could happen in the coming months.
Edelman’s move to tap Haley comes after the company hired a former Obama administration official to serve as a senior adviser to EGA. Ex-Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, who also served as then-President Barack Obama’s ambassador to China, will join Haley in helping to guide the company later this month.
Edelman retains 6,000 employees with more than 60 offices worldwide, according to the company’s website.
