Nikki Haley Nets $11 Million for Campaign in 6 Weeks
Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration, raised over $11 million in just six weeks upon announcing her candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, according to her campaign manager.
Her 70,000 contributions received nearly 96% of donations under $200, cited her campaign statement released last April 5. Her campaign now has roughly $7.8 million for the first quarter of 2023.
“In just six weeks, Nikki Haley’s massive fundraising and active retail campaigning in early voting states makes her a force to be reckoned with,” said Betsy Ankney, the campaign manager, in a statement.
Haley’s campaign has been focused on small-scale events such as town halls and meet-and-greets in early voting states. She has already conducted 19 of these events in Iowa and New Hampshire. Her fundraising report contrasted with former President Donald Trump’s $9.5 million raised in the initial quarter of his 2024 campaign.
However, Trump raised $7 million in just a short period following the news of his indictment in New York, according to his aide Jason Miller. The former president got charged for altering business records connected to the payment of hush money paid to an adult film actress during his 2016 campaign.
Trump collected nearly $812 million during his 2020 election campaign and over $350 million for his 2016 run, while Nikki Haley has yet to release her campaign finance report for the first quarter of 2023.
