Nikki Haley surpasses DeSantis in NH GOP primary: Poll.
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Emerges as Top Contender in 2024 Republican Primary
Move over, Donald Trump. Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is capturing the attention of Republican voters in New Hampshire, the state where the first Republican primaries take place. In a recent survey conducted by USA TODAY, the Boston Globe, and Suffolk University, Haley surged to 19% among likely Republican primary voters, surpassing Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, who dropped to 10%. Trump, however, maintained his commanding lead with a whopping 49%.
DeSantis Fights Back Against Trump
DeSantis had been seen as the strongest alternative to Trump throughout the campaign. However, with his poll numbers slipping both nationally and in key states, voters seeking an alternative to Trump are now turning their attention to other options, including Haley, who is experiencing a surge in popularity.
In the Granite State survey, all other candidates, apart from Trump and Haley, failed to reach double digits.
When it comes to the inevitability of Trump securing the Republican Party’s nomination, the surveyed GOP voters were divided, with 48% in favor and 44% against. Additionally, nearly 40% stated that they could still change their minds about their preferred candidate.
“These results suggest that Haley will attract more attention, funding, and media coverage,” said David Paleologos, Director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center. “Furthermore, this could lead to other candidates dropping out and throwing their support behind Haley’s challenge to former President Donald Trump.”
However, Paleologos also noted that those who switch their support may not necessarily choose Haley but could opt for Trump instead. “Even if all the major candidates endorsed Haley as their second choice, Trump would still have over 55% of the vote,” he explained.
Haley’s rise in the polls can be attributed to her impressive debate performances and extensive campaigning in Iowa, New Hampshire, and her home state of South Carolina.
A recent CNN poll indicated that Haley has the highest chance among all Republican contenders to defeat President Joe Biden, who is facing criticism for issues such as inflation, the southern border crisis, and concerns about his age.

What time is the Republican debate today?
The debate, hosted by Fox Business Network, will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday night at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif. H 39% support among the same group of voters.
While it may still be too early to make definitive predictions about the 2024 Republican Primary, Haley’s rise in popularity is certainly noteworthy. As a former governor of South Carolina and ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump administration, Haley has established herself as a prominent figure within the Republican Party.
One of the key factors contributing to Haley’s appeal is her strong conservative track record. During her tenure as governor, she pushed for tax cuts, deregulation, and a strong and secure border. These positions align closely with the priorities of many Republican voters who view her as a reliable and steadfast conservative leader.
In addition, Haley has been able to distance herself from some of the controversies that surrounded the Trump administration. While she served as ambassador to the United Nations, Haley maintained a strong and independent stance, often disagreeing with the President on certain policy decisions. This ability to assert her own voice within the administration has garnered her respect and admiration from both Republicans and Democrats.
Furthermore, Haley has proven herself to be a skilled communicator and diplomat. Her speeches at the United Nations were widely praised for their clarity and conviction. Haley has the ability to articulate conservative values and principles in a way that resonates with a broad range of voters, making her a formidable candidate in any future primary.
However, it is important to note that the political landscape can change rapidly. The 2024 Republican Primary is still several years away, and the dynamics within the party may evolve in unexpected ways. Additionally, the potential entry of other high-profile candidates could further alter the race.
Nonetheless, Nikki Haley’s emergence as a top contender in the 2024 Republican Primary cannot be ignored. Her conservative credentials, ability to navigate political controversies, and strong communication skills make her a compelling choice for many Republican voters. As the primary season draws closer, it will be interesting to observe how Haley’s campaign continues to unfold and whether she can maintain her momentum.
