‘No Greater Christmas Present’: Bob Saget’s Widow Reflects On First Holiday Without Him
Kelly Rizzo was the widow of Bob Saget and took some time this weekend to reflect on her first Christmas season without him. “Full House” star.
Rizzo shared her thoughts — along with several throwback photos of herself with the former “America’s Funniest Videos” host in happier times — in an Instagram post on Saturday.
“Cherish every single moment,” Rizzo began, adding, “I certainly didn’t think that our first Christmas together (in the same city) last year would be our last.”
Rizzo pointed out that 2021 Christmas was the first year that this had happened. Saget had gone with her and her step-daughter Laura to Chicago to celebrate Christmas with her family — and she reflected on the impression he’d made on even the youngest members of her family in such a short time.
“I’m so glad we had that special time together. He got to spend time with my niece Alex, who was only 2, and got to meet my niece Brooklyn who was only 2 weeks old,” She added, “Alex still remembers ‘Uncle Bob’ and talks about him every single day. He certainly left a lasting impression that I’m so grateful for. But Bob did that with everyone he met.”
Rizzo went on to reflect on the holidays in general, offering her prayers for others who might be going through a difficult season or missing a loved one in the same way that she was — and adding her hope that the good memories would be enough to carry them through the hard times.
“The holidays are a time for hope, love, and togetherness. I pray that if you’re missing a loved one this holiday season, that you’re blessed with many deep and loving memories and gratitude that will help carry you through,” She spoke. “As I’ve said before, I’m just so grateful that I got to have that incredible man in my life and that I got to be in his for 6 years. There’s no greater Christmas present than that.”
“Sending love and prayers and wishes to you all. And I cannot thank you all enough for almost a full year of all the love and support and kindness from everyone. It means more than you know. I can only hope to show you how thankful I am and give it back a bit over time,” Rizzo concluded.
Saget passed away On January 9, 2022, his death occurred suddenly while he was still on tour in Florida. According to his family’s statement shortly after his death, the official cause of his death was head trauma. “The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”
