North Korea threatened to attack the United States after the South Korean and American military carried out joint military exercises. This included the flying of a B-52 bomber capable of carrying nuclear weapons over the Korean Peninsula. “quick, overwhelming action.”

Kim Yo Jong Un’s sister and threat maker, Kim Jong Un.

“We keep our eye on the restless military moves by the U.S. forces and the South Korean puppet military, and are always on standby to take appropriate, quick and overwhelming action at any time according to our judgment,” She said. “The demonstrative military moves and all sorts of rhetoric by the U.S. and South Korea, which go so extremely frantic as not to be overlooked, undoubtedly provide (North Korea) with conditions for being forced to do something to cope with them.”

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic and previous diplomatic efforts, military exercises had to be cancelled or reduced. In light of North Korea’s increased military and missile capabilities, the exercises have been resumed and intensified. Recent missile tests by the North have been reported to be more extensive than ever, with North Korea openly threating nuclear weapons.

Kim Yo Jong stated that North Korea will resume missile testing in the Pacific Ocean. She declared Tuesday that North Korea would consider any American attempt to intercept missile launch launches from it as an attack. “declaration of war.”

The statement was made while she cited a media report. The report said that the U.S.  planned to shoot down any intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) if they were to be test-launched towards the Pacific Ocean.

North Korean missiles are often launched from steep angles in order to avoid neighbors, and the U.S. never has shot them down. Recently, however, it was reported that Pyonyang is planning to launch additional missiles against Japan. Officials are now questioning the decision not to shoot them down.

South Korea is also working to improve its relations in the region. It has recently eased a historical dispute with Japan, which boosted the trilateral Seoul-Tokyo-Washington cooperation. Because of the North’s recent hostile actions, the South views this collaboration as critical.

Japan paid compensation to South Koreans in exchange for their labor under colonial Tokyo.

There are around 28,500 American troops stationed at South Korea, as the North increases its military operations. This is because both countries are improving their coordination in the region as a deterrent.
