‘Not Something I’d Ever Do Again’: Rosie O’Donnell Doesn’t Talk Fondly Of Her Time On ‘The View’

Former “The View” co-host Rosie O’Donnell didn’t speak fondly of her time on the daytime talk show and said it is “not something” she ever plans to do again after last appearing as a host nearly a decade ago.

During the “Now What? With Brooke Shields” podcast on Tuesday, the 61-year-old actress made clear fans shouldn’t expect to see her back at the table on the ABC show any time soon or in the future.

“I know this — it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness,” O’Donnell told Shields.

“It was not something that I would ever do again,” O’Donnell continued. “It’s nothing I’d want to do again. I can say that.”

The “A League of their Own” star also touched on the on-air drama she went through with former co-host, conservative commentator Elisabeth Hasselbeck, in 2007 over the Iraq War and later with Whoopi Goldberg regarding Bill Cosby, the New York Post noted.

“Elisabeth Hasselbeck was on there and Bill Geddie was the producer of an all-women’s talk show with supposedly a woman’s voice was a man, an old, cis, white man, Republican who was against everything that I believed in and stood for, and he loved Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and would go into her little dressing room and give her notes and talking points of the Republican press that they would release daily,” O’Donnell said.

“She had the talking points,” the former co-host added. “I was trying to get her to feel more than to fact.”

“And then one day on the show, she [Hasselbeck] kind of threw me under the bus and I was like, ‘Are you f***ing kidding me?’” O’Donnell continued. “I finished the show, got my coat, walked out, and said, ‘I’m not going back’ — and I didn’t until a few years later when they asked me to come back. And Whoopi [Goldberg] was on it and we clashed in ways that I was shocked by.”

The comedian first appeared on the show as a co-host during the 10th season of “The View” from 2006-2007. She returned in 2014 to the ABC daytime show as a host once again, but her stint was very short and she left months later.
