‘Not Without Sadness’: 90s Star Tia Mowry Files For Divorce From Husband Of 14 Years
90s sitcom star Tia Mowry has filed for divorce from her husband Cory Hardrict after 14 years of marriage.
The “Sister Sister” alum shared the news with her Instagram followers Tuesday.
“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote in the caption alongside a black and white photo of her and Hardrict. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”
The mom of two continued, saying, “I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
In her Instagram story, the actress shared a quote that said, “Letting go can be painful. But, it won’t hurt as much as holding on to an illusion.”
Mowry officially filed for divorce from Hardrict Tuesday, People reported, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The court filing requested joint custody of the couple’s two children, 11-year-old son Cree and 4-year-old daughter Cairo.
They had a prenuptial agreement prior to tying the knot in 2008. The publication noted that Mowry was requesting to terminate spousal support. Hardrict is also an actor.
Mowry, 44, posted a few tweets leading up to the announcement that fans have since dubbed prophetic.
“I am love. I will only choose to see love. I hope you will too,” she said Tuesday before the announcement was made.
Sunday’s message was also love-focused. “Reminder: You are enough. You deserve love. And you deserve to be understood for who you truly are,” Mowry tweeted.
Hardrict has not publicly commented on the breakup, but fans noticed he shared a cryptic quote on Instagram on Monday that said, “Acting off of emotions will cost you every time.”
Previously, Mowry had shared that she and Hardrict did not believe in gender roles in their marriage.
“A lot of people, they ask Cory and I, like, ‘What makes your marriage, you know, a great marriage?’” Mowry told People in 2021. “And if I’m being really honest with you — and we’ve been doing this for years — we don’t focus on specific gender roles.”
“Meaning the women should just do one thing and then the men should just do one thing,” she continued. “It’s a team effort at our house.”
