NPR To Quit Twitter After Being Labeled ‘State-Affiliated Media’

National Public Radio (NPR) has announced that it will no longer be posting new material to its 52 official Twitter feeds. The move comes after the social media platform labeled the US organization as “state-affiliated media.” NPR has confirmed that it had asked Twitter several times to remove the “incorrect label” but to no avail, leading to the decision to “officially deemphasize Twitter across the organization.”

Twitter, which is owned by Elon Musk, has yet to respond to this decision by NPR. TheBBC, a British broadcaster, has also objected to a similar label being applied to it on Twitter’s main account, where it appears as “government-funded media.”
