The National Republican Senatorial Committee has announced plans to run an ad criticizing Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock during two MLB games. The ad is scheduled to be played on Monday in Georgia during the Home Run Derby on ESPN as well as on Tuesday during the All-Star Game on Fox.
Republicans have blamed the senator for missing out on a potential economic gain for the state after the MLB All-Star Game was moved from Atlanta to Denver.
“The All-Star Game, a $100 million boost to Georgia’s economy, until the radical left woke crowd took it all away, forcing the MLB to boycott Georgia,” the ad stated. “Even Stacey Abrams opposed the boycott.”
The @MLB All-Star Game will be bittersweet for baseball fans in Georgia as they watch a game played in a packed stadium in Denver instead of Atlanta, thanks to @ReverendWarnock.

Warnock attempted to take a moderate position after the MLB made its choice to protest Georgia’s decision to pass a new voting bill back in March. The bill was set to change the state’s absentee voting rules with new voter ID mandates.
Democrats argued the bill would restrict minorities from accessing the ballot. Warnock said in a tweet back in April, “it wasn’t the people or workers of Georgia who crafted SB 202. It was politicians seeking to retain power at the expense of Georgians’ voices and today’s decision by MLB is the unfortunate consequence of these politicians’ actions.”
Although Warnock never explicitly called for the game to leave Georgia, he said he respected the decision. He continued to plea for businesses, athletes and entertainers to protest the law by fighting for the community and opposing the new voter law rather than by leaving the state.
Voting rights are under attack because some politicians want to pick their voters, instead of the other way around. We must act to ensure every eligible voice is heard.

However, in an interview with CNN, he said new voter rights were inevitable.
Warnock went on to say, “I think that we have to pass voting rights no matter what.”
The senator’s contradiction furthered Republicans’ concerns, who argued he should have stepped up knowing the potential economic gain the MLB game would have brought to the state.
