Nvidia will‍ provide the computing power required for these ‌groundbreaking efforts,‍ while Reliance’s unit Jio will manage‌ and maintain the AI cloud infrastructure and oversee customer⁢ engagement, ensuring a seamless ⁤experience ⁣for users.

“Reliance will create AI applications and services for their ‌450 ‌million Jio (telecom) customers and provide energy-efficient AI infrastructure to scientists,⁣ developers, and startups across India,” stated⁤ Nvidia.

Nvidia has established a ⁣near-monopoly globally in‌ the computing systems used to power services like ⁤ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular generative ‌AI chatbot. These AI-powered apps, known⁢ as large language ‌models, can generate human-like responses based⁢ on⁣ text prompts.

Reliance aims to accelerate various key AI projects in India, including chatbots, drug discovery, climate research, and ⁤more, through this ‍new AI infrastructure. Additionally,⁣ they will focus on creating AI ‌applications that cater to Indian regional languages, such as an app that can interact with⁤ farmers to provide weather information ⁤and crop prices.

Excitingly, Reuters recently reported that Reliance is‍ also considering venturing into chip manufacturing in India, further expanding its ‌technological capabilities.
