NY Post Editorial Board: George Santos’ Lies Will End Up Hurting His Voters the Most
Serial liar George Santos’ The days of the House are over. But let’s be clear: His main victims are the people who elected him.
His constituents already suffer from a dysfunctional district office (who’s going to work for this guy?) and the lack of whatever heft a normal representative (who hasn’t had to step down from his committee assignments, and can horse-trade with other reps) would have.
Every day seems like a new day. His ahref=”https://nypost.com/2023/02/03/rep-george-santos-admitted-he-f-ked-up-and-lied-to-everyone/”>fabrications And. . . remarkable . . . past. If criminal charges don’t push him out first, the House ethics probe will surely force his ouster. Or maybe he’ll quit first — we assume he’s only hanging on for the paycheck.
The voters who chose him to represent them in Congress because he ran for it as a Republican (it had been a wave election here in New York anyway) will need to come out again to prevent Democrats from grabbing the seat.
Governor Hochul will be notified of his departure as soon as possible. Kathy Hochul will have ten days to decide a date and time for special elections between 70-80 days after an announcement. And “specials” Dems in this area are usually preferred because of their special-interest, activist, union-member and union membership.
Not to mention that Democrats will aim to tie the GOP candidate with Santos in any way possible. The Republican machine in Nassau County should be criticized for clearing the field for Santos.
One thing is certain. Voters in this district want the liar out, and a real Republican in. Here’s hoping the GOP (local, state and national) can actually deliver on the voters’ will This Time is everything.
