NY Times: Fetterman Struggling to Adjust to Senate Life, Hears Voices Like the Teachers in “Peanuts”

Fetterman’s Washington, D.C. office was outfitted with these items before he moved there. Tablets with closed captioning. The Senate chamber now has wired screens where professional broadcast captioners type closed-captions for him.

Democratic colleagues Fetterman described the closed captioning system working to facilitate seamless conversations.

“It’s just a slight delay,” said Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez, D-Wash, the Times reported. “I didn’t notice he was using it at first. Then I was like, ‘Why are they holding it?’ It took me a minute to figure out what was going on.”

Despite auditory processing issues, and refusing to release any more of his medical records during his campaign for the 2020 midterm elections, the Democrat beat Dr. Mehmet Oz, his GOP opponent.

“We’re going to have to learn our own styles with it,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, a Democratic Senator, spoke to the New York Times about Fetterman’s condition after he used the tablet for communication. “What I was saying was accurate even when I talked fast. I wanted to make sure it was accurate. It was kind of to imagine what it would be like to be him.”

“He answers like you would answer anyone,” Klobuchar said. “It’s us that have to get used to it; he’s used to it.”

Sen. Bob Casey of D-Penn. who serves as Pennsylvania’s second senator Fetterman agreed with Fetterman. People are more important than his condition. “understand disability.”

“There are a lot of people out there who understand disability, and understand struggle, and he won big,” He spoke to the outlet.

Fetterman was admitted to hospital Wednesday night and was still there Friday morning. He had felt lightheaded after a Democratic retreat. Fetterman is being monitored and his team stated that he is doing well. “in good spirits and talking with his staff and family,” After several tests, it was determined that there had been no stroke or seizure.
