Gunman Arrested After Shooting Spree in New York City
A shocking incident unfolded in New York City over the weekend when a 25-year-old Hispanic gunman went on a 27-minute shooting spree that left one elderly man dead and three others injured. The suspect, who was riding a scooter, was apprehended by authorities on Saturday.
During a news conference, New York City Police Department Assistant Chief Joseph Kenny described the chaotic scenes that unfolded in Queens and Brooklyn. He revealed that the motive behind the shootings remains unknown, as the gunman seemed to target random individuals without any specific motive or pattern.
The shooting spree began at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday when the gunman, armed with a 9 mm ghost handgun, started shooting at unsuspecting pedestrians while riding his illegal scooter in Brooklyn. His first victim, a 21-year-old Hispanic male, was shot in the left shoulder but is expected to survive.
Less than 20 minutes later, the shooter arrived in Queens and fired a fatal shot into the back of an 87-year-old man in front of a nail salon. Disturbing video footage captured the victim collapsing to the ground, his shirt soaked in blood.

The suspect, identified as Hamoud Ali Al-Saidi, was known for his daily walks in the neighborhood to check on family and friends. Residents expressed shock and sadness over the tragic turn of events, as Al-Saidi was a familiar figure in the community.
Authorities rushed Al-Saidi to Jamaica Hospital, where friends and relatives anxiously awaited updates on his condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.
The gunman continued his rampage, shooting a 44-year-old Hispanic man in the cheek and a 63-year-old Hispanic man in the shoulder. Both victims were transported to hospitals, with the former in critical condition and the latter in stable condition.
Approximately two hours after the first incident, police arrested the suspect. NYPD Acting Police Commissioner Edward Caban commended the efforts of the officers involved in the apprehension, highlighting the suspect’s willingness to carry out violence with his extended magazine-equipped 9mm pistol.
Witnesses recounted the terrifying moments when they saw the shooter riding on the sidewalk, randomly targeting pedestrians. Panic gripped the streets as people screamed and ran for safety.
This shocking incident has left the community shaken and searching for answers. As authorities continue their investigation, the residents of New York City are left grappling with the aftermath of this senseless act of violence.
